Day 20 + 21 | A Thrill of Hope
An open seat standby to the west coast
A trade for a mom to sit with her kids
A gaze over Sierra Nevada
An older couple
A train ride
An old friend
"Take the BART to Orinda, and I will be there to pick you up. We are waking up early tomorrow and driving to Tahoe."
It has been over a year since we really saw each other when for a whole summer we were pretty much inseparable, so the past twenty-four hours have been thousands of words exchanged, stories, and singing Spanish worship music at the top of our lungs with Randy's dog, Zeke, in the back seat.
Recapping a year in just a day or so is quite the task, but between car rides, hikes, and trips to local Mexican restaurants we find the time.
The purpose of every conversation: God loves us.
The conclusion of every conversation: We love God.
We will have random thoughts that are interrupted by songs that pop into our heads, and the one that plays over and over in mine today is:
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn
Fall on your knees
—O Holy Night
When Joseph woke up from his dream, I wonder if he felt a thrill of hope.
